| Building Capacity Professional Enhancement Trainings for Kazakhstan OSCE Chairmanship 2010
On November 3-4, 2008, as well as on April 14-15, 2009, OSCE Academy as a project coordinator conducted two short professional enhancement trainings on OSCE's mission, structure and mode of operation for the Kazakh key ministries' staff in close co-operation with the OSCE Training Co-ordinator and Conflict Prevention Centre under the OSCE Secretariat and with support of the OSCE Centre in Astana. Due to the fact that Kazakhstan became the first ex-Soviet state to assume the chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in 2010, the main goal of these trainings was to support the Kazakh government in its preparation to this high position. This was done through training focal expert-level staff members from the target governmental institutions and agencies in OSCE issues, sharing with them experience of this office, and providing them with general information on how the OSCE functions. Upon completion of the trainings, 13 representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Central Election Committee, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Justice etc., gained more awareness of the OSCE mission, value, principles and institutions as well as its activities and, in particular, the OSCE operation in Central Asia.
