First regional conference of the Central Eurasian Studies Society brought
together practitioners and scholars in all humanities and social science
disciplines with an interest in Central Eurasia.
OSCE Academy together with NUPI (Norwegian Institute of International
Relations) has supported organization of two panels in the framework of the
conference and sponsored participation of several regional scholars.

Panels sponsored were: "The Resource Curse in Eurasian Petro-States: The
Cases of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan" and "Regional Cooperation in Central
Asia: Prospects and Challenges". Representatives of the OSCE Academy, NUPI,
International Institute of Strategic Research under the President of KR,
Jacobs University Bremen, Competitiveness Research Centre of Almaty and
Institute for Regional Studies delivered reports, participated in
discussions and acted as chairs thanks to support from NUPI and OSCE
Academy.
